Now working on free hand wax carving. This pendant is 3 inches long. No specisl meaning to the design.
My first design thought was solid hanging (flat disk) bubbles. Second thought, that might be a bit heavy. Decided free hand made rings were kind of interesting. That was decided durring the sketch stage.
Carving is mostly by hand but did use a rotary burr to help make the holes, I still consider it hand work, as the power is only used to spin the bit. It's still free-hand carving.
I started with a small flat slab section of purple wax.
I like free carving to look like hand work. Not the precise CNC machined look. I mark measurements and scratch profiles in the wax. Then the carving just goes with the flow with how it looks too me at the time.
I often do super precise CNC machine tool wax carving. So I am not a fanatic, thinking hand carving is the only way wax carving should be done. Hand carving feels more personal and artistic to me. There is nothing sacred about that. <grin>
Finished piece with store-bought ring and bail. So,,, it's 99% hand made <g>
